Ryan and I have been taking a class at Big Picture Scrapbooking- Claudine Hellmuth’s class in mixed media.
Actually, I’m taking the class, but she is loving doing my homework with me, and I am loving having a crafting buddy.
Here’s one of my favorite techniques so far – stamping on sticky-back canvas with paint.

Here’s Ryan with her version….

I started out by trying to make some of the projects easier for a 4 year old to do, but she was having none of that. She said “No, Mom- I want to do like the lady said”…. Who can blame her? Good thing I don’t mind sharing my stuff- I just wish I had bought two sets of chipboard albums. She doesn’t like her materials to be any different!

Ryan hard at work with watermark resist.

Ryan’s gesso etching. I think she said it was a baby with arms and legs
I love Claudine’s class, but it’s totally out of the box for me. I don’t do any painting or mixed media, and am very clean & simple. I’ve loved the process of just being messy and creating, and am learning so many new techniques. Especially loving that I have a crafty partner

I am also spending my Summer @ Home with Claudine. Ryan’s work is absolutely fabulous! I love the heart that she’s working on above. Would love to see what it looks like when it’s all done. Do you think she would give you permission to share it in the class gallery? I have a two year old so I can’t let her play with Acrylics & Gesso yet. We are still in the fingerpainting stage, but someday I will teach her the techniques, too. So glad to see that you two are having fun as a Family! Lovely Job, Mom
LOVE that you guys are making art together! what fun!
And I have to Ryan did an amazing job with her stamping. i could take lessons from her!
Your daughter is adorable! It’s so cool that you have a partner to work with.
I’m taking the class, too…it’s fun…your daughter is so cute…precious moments the time your are spending with her…the years go by so fast….before you know it she will be a famous artist and you her greatest fan…lol…no matter what they do we are always our children’s greatest fans…
I’m finally catching up on blogs! The albums are so pretty! (And fun that Ryan’s playing too!) What did you do with it once it was done?
A friend of mine here is VERY into the artsy side of paper crafting. You know me – that’s so not my thing – but I’m always intrigued by the stuff she does. She’s teaching out at my Mom’s store in October for our Halloween event and ran through her classes with me last night … I was floored by what I learned. It was nuts. It’s a lot of fun to do this artsy stuff, huh?!
