Happy New Year!

We had lots of fun last night at the Winter-themed Thank You class.  There were some people new to A Muse, which is always so fun!

Here’s another card we made last night.   I thought this one was fitting for today’s snowstorm  here in NH :)

I used some “snow” glitter and a transparency film to create a window shaker card.  This was one was so much fun to create!

Happy New Year!

Winter Thank You’s

Time has flown by since Christmas, and I almost forgot to remind you about my Winter Thank You class which is Tues night 12/30 at 6:30 pm at The Paper Tree in Manchester.  Here is a sample of one of the cards we’ll be making.

Winter birthday

I have been on a kick lately making some more elegant looking cards.  I used the Celestial Blue notecards from A Muse with a grey and cream cardstock to make this birthday card for a friend.  The background stamp is from Impress, and the birthday stamp is one of my favorite’s from A Muse

I love the new Labels 1 Nestabilities set – I can’t stop using them.  I embossed the cream layer too, which adds a nice touch.  A little glitter around the background stamp, which was stamped using Memento London fog.   Hard to see but the background layer is a medium gray color.

Enjoy!

Holiday drinks

I just love this stamp – it begs for glitter and bling.

I needed a last minute Christmas card for a gift, and used this with some stickles (red yellow and diamond) and a few copics.

Merry Christmas!!

A Peek Inside….

You may have been following the A Muse Advent calendar boxes over on the A Muse blog.  Today we are revealing what we had inside our boxes.  Welllll…..I did have something for the inside of my advent box- and it made it all the way to Seattle in my suitcase.  Unfortunately, I was apparently feeling a little overwhelmed and jet-lagged because it also made it right back home with me again- woops!  Lucky for me, my good friend Heather stepped in and put a ball of yummy A Muse ribbon in there for me.

Not that my original idea was very creative anyway- I just had some Ghiardelli chocolates in there :)   I apparently used up my creative energy on the outside!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Have a great holiday!

Santa’s almost here!

Here’s a Santa card I created for some special people… I can’t tell you who- because that would spoil the surprise.  But, I figured if I waited until after Xmas to post this card, everyone would be all Christmased-out.

I used one of my favorite stamps for this card- santa skates from A Muse.  Too cute.  I added some sparkly ice underneath him with a Cool Shadow Copic marker, blended into white, and then adding some Clear Spica glitter pen for added sparkle.

Somehow my 2 1/2 year old has it in her head that Santa doesn’t wear glasses.  She wouldn’t let my husband read her the story that had Santa wearing glasses- because he’s not the one that comes to our house. hee hee…

We have finally dug ourselves out of the foot or so of snow we got this weekend.  I was glad to have some much needed time to relax and just be.  Sometimes it’s nice to be snowed in!

I do have some more holiday things to share, but I have been so busy with work that I’m trying to keep it fairly low key this year.  I’ve been working on a December daily album- inspired by Ali Edward’s project.  I’m still working on building the album, and I imagine it will be a while before it’s done, but for now I’m just having fun with it.  I’m still working on a similar one I did for Halloween- ha! I should be posting pictures of that one in time for Valentine’s :)

Christmas Mouse

Here’s the last card from my Xmas card class (that was a long time ago, I know!)

I love this little Christmas mouse stamp- but he definitely looked like he was getting into trouble.  I used the Santa’s cookies in the front (cut out and mounted onto the front of the card), and then stamped and cut out a cookie for the mouse to be running away with.

I used my Nestabilities to cut a window in the front of the card, and stamped the stairs and mouse on the inside.

Thanks for everyone’s comments on my last post.  I wanted to answer a couple of questions from the comments:  1) For detail cutting like the holiday shopper or the santa cookies above, I use CutterBee scissors- they are super small and have a very fine point.  I also try to cut as close to or even just barely into the black line of the stamp.  I wouldn’t recommend this if you have to mass produce a card, as it can get time consuming, but it’s fun for when you’re just making a few.  I also don’t worry too much if there’s some white showing.  2) Simple Stick is a clear embossing powder- you can use it with a heat tool to adhere glitter, foil, flock, etc.  It’s different than the quickie glue pen in that it’s much better for a large area, and holds the glitter/flock a little better- it definitely will stick and hold longer. Julie has a great post w/info about the Simple Stick here.  It works great if you have a solid stamp that you want to be all glittered.  I also learned from Julie that you should heat it from the bottom of your paper – this seems to work best.  HTH!  Please feel free to ask any other questions you might have- I’m happy to share :)

My Turn!!

Have you been following the Advent calendar on the A Muse blog?  Each day a different member of the creative team is posting an advent calendar box.  See the link on the A Muse blog for the template for the boxes.  Today was my turn!

advent-box

I used the clear birthday builder set for the numbers, and then used Simple Stick & red glitter to make them very sparkly.  I also added liquid applique to the edges of santa’s suit for more texture.

I also had a card featured on the blog today – an Oldie but Goodie- Holiday Shopper!

I used the cityscape in the background in ice blue- it’s a little hard to see in the picture.  Here’s the version of the card I wanted to send to myself….

RELAX!!! I always need to tell myself that this time of year…it’s not supposed to be stressful :)

Enjoy!

Holiday Coffee

I made this card for our favorite Dunkin Donuts server, Anita.  My husband loves to take my daughter there to get coffee on the weekends, and she knows my daughter’s name- and likes to spoil her with munchkins.  The other day, she had a Christmas card waiting for us, and so the next day, I gave this one to my daughter to give to her.  She was very excited to deliver it.  I used my favorite To Go cup and holiday colors.

Poinsetta Box

This is a Martha Stewart poinsetta box kit I bought last Christmas on clearance.  I decided to put one together the other day to see how hard it was. It came out pretty good for my first try- this one I modified a bit from the original template.

The flower is made out of crepe paper -I just wish it would stick up a little more, but I do like the effect – it would make a cute package for a small present.  I can’t tell you what was in it – because that would spoil the surprise :)
