Anniversary hostess

Sunday was my 6th anniversary- unfortunately I had to leave for Switzerland for a brief work trip, so we didn’t get to do anything special.  But, I left this card for my husband on his nightstand to find.

I recently got this retired hostess stamp (thanks Katie!), and have been dying to find a reason to use it.  I used the tiny heart to add to her platter with some stickles.  Even though it was for a guy, I figured a little bling wouldn’t hurt ;)

I also used the new aqua mist A Muse sheer ribbon – it goes perfectly with the vintage blue cards.  Enjoy!

A Muse Catalog

I wanted a way to organize my A Muse stamps so that I would know what I have and can easily find things.  Plus, I wanted a way to mark which ones were retired- so that I can make sure I don’t use those in my classes!  I made this catalog- it was a huge project (I discovered that I own A LOT of stamps).  Still working on the cover, but good enough for now.

I recently got a Bind-it-All, and although I’m a little BIA challenged (see the extra holes??), it came out good enough for my purposes.  Might help if I watched the video, but to be honest- anything that needs a video isn’t really my thing.

I made tabs for each category, and am working on organizing my stamps into those categories once I get into my new space- hopefully only a few more weeks!!

A Muse Class Schedule

Here is my class schedule for the next couple of months. All classes are at The Paper Tree in Manchester, NH.  Please call Michelle at 603-624-8800 to reserve a spot.

November 14th – A Musing Calendar Class 6-9pm

Hope to see you there!

Some News….

I’ve been dying to share some news…. I am now a certified A Muse Instructor – yay!  I’m so excited for this opportunity.  I’ve loved A Muse ever since I started stamping, and am so happy to be part of their creative team.

Welcome Little One!

One of my oldest friends just welcomed a little baby boy into their family.  It was a tough delivery, but both baby and Mom are doing great.  I wanted a simple and soft baby card for her – no easy task for me, since I love bright bold colors (you know, Hot Pink and Grass Green and Blueberry!)

I used this Celestial Blue notecard and the new sheer Aqua Mist ribbon – it compliments the notecard perfectly.  I think this “joy” sentiment was originally intended for Xmas, but I love it for this too.  Simple and quick- I love those kinds of cards.  Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

A Muse Calendar

Once again this year, A Muse has created these great calendars, with the proceeds to benefit charity.  This year, the proceeds will benefit The Luekemia & Lymphoma Society, in honor of a fellow A Muse Addict, Victoria, who is battling Hodgkin’s Disease.  For the sixteen month calendar and perpetual calendar, the minimum donation is $4, but they are also accepting donations of $10 and $20.  The calendars come in three sizes – see the details here, and order your calendar here.

I wanted to create a book that would sit on my desk, and would remind me of the cards I’d need to send each month (to replace the post it note that current sits on my desk).  This was also my first experience with the Bind It All, and I love the result.

Here is the page for September….

This was created using the A2 size calendar.  I added some Diamond Glaze on a few of the pumpkins for fun.

I love Emily’s idea last year of posting each month’s page on the first of the month, so I think I’ll try that this year.  That way I’ll have time to see if I can play with some of the ones I didn’t like as much- I can always reprint them and do over.

Love is in the air…

One of my best friends from college got engaged almost two months ago, and I’ve been a little behind on sending her a congratulations card.  I found these cool scalloped circle cards at my LSS, and decided to use them with this airplane stamp to create a unique (and quick) engagement card.

I realize that hot pink might be too much for the groom, but I just love this color- I can’t stop using it :)

I used my nestabilities to create the scallop cirlces on the inside, and some pink stickles on the exhaust and Copic Spica clear glitter pen on the plan to add some sparkle.

Spiders- aaack!

I hate spiders.  There was a huge one in my basement the other day- I mean HUGE.  It was all I could do to stomp on him and hope that he didn’t get me.  I watched Charlotte’s Web this weekend with my daughter- very cute, very sad when she died.  But I still hate spiders.

I decided to make a creepy spider card – very dark and using my favorite black glitter.  I used Heather’s card as an inspiration – Love how she made brads into spiders!  I used glittered brads from Making Memories to tie in with the glittered web. Somehow this didn’t come out exactly as I had imagined it – I’ll have to play with it a bit more.

I attached the brads by pulling apart the two stick ends, and then cutting off the ends with some sharp scissors (not the same ones you use for ribbon!).  Now the back is fairly flat, and there’s no need to pierce a whole through the front of the card.  I then used some red-line tape to attach the back of the brad to the card.  Someone posted this tip once, but unfortunately I’ve long forgotten where I heard it.  Try it – it works great!

Did you notice?? Another card with NO coloring! As my 2 year old would say- Aren’t you proud of me??

Thanks for visiting!

How old???

The other day was my Dad’s birthday.  I won’t tell you how old he was, because he’s a little sensitive about it ;)   SO, of course I had to make him a funny card to go along.  I really love this Tree stamp from A Muse.  Jenn S. is always telling me how much I really need this stamp, and of course it took me about six months to actually buy it.  Now that I did, I love it!  I used the stamp to make leaves on a tree rather than the actual tree.  I made it look more real by stamping the leaves in both Pear Tart and Bamboo ink from Memento.

I used the owl stamp, and then colored the branch to connect to the leaves.  I hand-wrote the sentiment, and used Diamond Glaze to make the eyes pop on the left side owl.  I had colored his eyes a little with a Staedler Triplus marker because they weren’t dark enough, but that ended up reacting with the glaze and making the whole glaze appear brown too.  Oh well, I still liked the effect.

Spooky Crow

I love the new crow images from A Muse and decided to make a crow card for Halloween.  In Jenn Shurkus’ last A Muse class we used a Tsukineko glue pad to put glitter on an entire image.  I decided to use that same technique to get a furry flocked crow, using Doodlebug Designs velvet flock.  I also added an A Muse micro twinkle sticker for his eye making him look a little spooky :)

I perched the smaller crow on the witches brew stamp to tie in the larger crow, and added some green Doodlebug Designs glitter to the brew.  And NO coloring!! Can you believe it? I never do that ;)   Here’s a close up of the fuzzy….
