We have two dogs in our house- one is a West Highland Terrier, and is so good with kids. I saw these cupcakes on the cover of a Family Circle magazine this spring, and just HAD to make them for my daughter’s birthday. She calls our dog Jo-Jo (his name is Bailey, but for some reason we have given him this nickname), and she was SO excited about her Jo-Jo cupcakes!

These weren’t that hard to make- just time consuming. But, the kids loved them, and that made it totally worth it. I think it was making 24 of them that set me over the edge
Half of a marshmallow was used to make the snout part, then cut a mini marshmallow diagonally, dipping it in pink sugar to make the ears. Mini M&M’s made the eyes, and Raisinets for the nose. The best part was the tounge. I took strawberry Starburst, rolled them out with a rolling pin, then cut them into quarters. You pinch into the shape of a tounge, and use a knife to make the line in the center. I used whipped icing and a pastry bag to make the fur. This was really my first time piping icing, so I was pretty happy there were no major catastrophies. Luckily, the magazine had step by step instructions with pictures- I totally need visuals when I’m attempting food projects!
Follow this link to the instructions, plus instructions for other puppy cupcakes!
Enjoy!

Those are soooo cute!!! I think I’d go crazy after two but 24?!?! Yikes!

Shut up! How stinkin’ cute are these? Wow Jen not only are you a CPA by day, but Martha Stewart. Great job on these. Can you send me one to *sample*? LOL!
Have a great weekend!
These are so cute.
These turned out darling! I bet they were a big hit!
Gee whiz, those are cute. How wonderful that you are able to keep the steady hand required to render all that fur, and those tongues, and the ears! Just superb.
